iSCSI Hardware Initiator

hello friends,

We have two esx servers that are HP BL 685 G5 Blade servers and one qlogic QMH4062 dualport iscsi mezz-card on each one. We want to add second qlogic QMH4062 iscsi card to each server, in this way each iscsi card connect different LUN on iscsi storage and we think about balancing the load.

is it possible? so, can we use two dual port iscsi card per esx server??

Thanks.

It will not be a problem, based on the Max number of iSCSI cards that you can have in an ESX box

*

Item Maximum

*

Number of VMFS volumes configured per server 256

Number of extents per VMFS volume 32

Number of Host Bus Adapters (HBA) of any type 16

Number of targets per HBA (iSCSI HBA) 15 (64)

Hardware iSCSI Initiators per server 2

regards.

I am not sure, because "Hardware iSCSI Initiators per server 2".this means that only one iSCSI HBA could be used.????

Hi,

As per the guide the limitation is only two hardware iSCSI initiators.

Thanks,

Samir
