host hung on disconnect, guest also

1 troublesome Host in our farm has a guest thats currently disconnected and I tried restarting the services which ussually works (mgmt-vmware, and vmware-vpxa). When I log directly into the host using the client the guest is up and having no problems as I suspected.

What other trick might i try before I schedule a production guest outage and reformatt of this server from 3.0.2 to 3.5U2 (VC is running 2.5) ?

TIA - S

You could disconnect the host from VC and reconnect. This should have no impact on your guest

Can your VC resolve this host via DNS? Is DNS ok on the host?

I have double checked all HOSTS files on each host in the farm.

I restarted the VC service on the VC physical box and it cleared up. Now I can see the host in its proper state.
