gunzip returns "File too large"

Hi,

I've a VM with a disk of 600GB that I want to move from a system to another through the network.

I shut it down then i "gzipped" the vmdk file an now when I try to "gunzip" it on its destination I receive:

gunzip: File too large.

There is enough space left on the disk (775GB).

The file has been gzipped on an ESX 3.0.2 and have to be gunzipped on an ESX 3.5.

Any idea,

Eric

The blocksize on your target VMFS might be to small.. The default size when formating is 1MB which allows a file size of max 256GB.

Your need at least a 4MB block sized (1024GB file size)..... The only way to change this is to re- format Smiley Sad
