Hi,

I install a new esx server. The time Zone look look fine. However, I can't change NTP to point to one of the AD Server?

How can this be overcome?

Between, I'm installing this esx in Asia, am I right that during installation, UTC should not be checked as I have check the Location and GMT + X

Thanks

did you try to change the configuration from command prompt?

SSH to the esx host and look for ntp.conf

make the changes and restart the ntp service, should work

KnowledgeBase article 1339 has step by step instructions for setting up ntp on ESX. Once you've done it a couple of times, it is as simple as malaysiavm says - log in with SSH and update ntp.conf.

Be sure to follow the fomat of the examples in ntp.conf.

To configure a time server in the AD environment, you require to have domain admin rights as you need to define which machine in the Domain will be act as time server for your AD infrastructure. It need to do some modification on the registry and etc.

you can view the article above as reference too.
