enabling multiple active paths

Hi,

I need my guest VMs to be able to see all the paths (four per disk in my setup) to my SAN. I understand ESX server 3 wants to do the path management for me, but for our purposes the guest must be able to see all the paths for itself. Is this possible?

You need your guest VMs to actually see the HBA of the physical server and see the physical targets?

Sounds like you need NPIV.

Interesting. Is there support in ESX server for NPIV?

Not yet. Maybe in 3.1. Or 3.5. Or 4.0. Or 4.1, but not 4.01. That would put it at 3-36 months out.

This isn't going to happen on 3.0.2 unless you setup an iSCSI initiator in the guest with multiple nics to a target with multiple SPs.

Just curious - why do your guests need this functionality?
