Is it possible to disable vSMP on ESX 3.5 and if so how do I do it?

Have not got VC open now however I am sure you can just uncheck the license option for vSMP which will prevent it from being used.

unfortunately doing that would also disable usage of the SAN which wouldn't be an option.

Yeah your right. I see the SMP option is not under Add-Ons so it cant be disabled as a single item.
Hi there,
The vSMP license only is necessary when you assign more than one vCPU to a VM.
If your VMs don´t need more that one vCPU then you won´t need vSMP.

Why do you want to disable vSMP?
If you don't need this feature, don't use it.
