connection timed out

I am trying to download the virtual machines in another location but after some time an error pops up stating connection timed out. What can I do?

Please, can you be more explicite on your issue. If I understand, you try to move one virtual Machine from one VMware Host to the other VMware Host?

As so far that I know VMware ESX technology, I don't really thing that you can download the Virtual Machines. You can import, export drop the Virtual Machines. I don't really understand what you means about download.

If is that, you really need to check if you have in place these 3 licenses: Vmotion and Hight Ability.

VMotion gives you the possibility to drop for one VMware Host to one other Host. Hight Ability is when the Host Server get down. So the Virtual machines can go to the Host where there is a place. I you don't have these 2 licenses, don't think that you could be move these Virtual machine.

You can also check the connectivity.

Please be more specific in what you are doing and trying to achieve.

VI Client and virtual center time out after some time (I think 15min.), but that doesn mean that the task isn't running. Connect to your host directly to view the task.

I was trying to download (copy) my virtual machines from the data storage to a network drive. Everytime is states connection timed out.

For copying data to and from ESX datastores I recommend Veeam's FastSCP.

For exporting complete virtual machines you can use VMware Converter.
