Not sure how many people use cfengine to manage the console configuration as we do. I recently ran into an issue where cfagent and cfexecd -F would hang the process @ 100% cpu.
Found out that it was emptying /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net
We have a editfiles line which does an EmptyFilePlease on /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net, soon as that ran, cfengine started showing this activity.
Re-populating /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net brought it all back to normal..
DO NOT TOUCH /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net IF YOU USE CFENGINE!!!
