You can not rename LUN, only datastore. And datastore must have unique name across all the hosts connected to vCenter.

If you are unable to rename a datastore then it must already exist. Click on inventory in the top left hand corner and select "Datastores". Search for the datastore which its saying already exists. Click on the VM tab, if there are no VM's running on the LUN click on the hosts tab, it will give you a list of ESX hosts connected to that LUN. Go onto each ESX host, select configuration, Storage Adapters and select Rescan.

LUN does not have a name in ESX.

Maybe iSCSI target, but not the LUN that has only an ID and a path (or more paths).

Each LUN can be formatted with VMFS, and in this case you will have a "name" (but is related to VMFS datastore name).
