Hi there,
I've got a VMDK file which I assume has been created using VMware Workstation. This VMDK is in thin format.
I copied the file to a VMFS volume which is accessible to my ESX 3.5 boxes.
When I try to inflate the disk I've got the following message:
vmkfstools -j DWHULE_E.vmdk
The virtual disk (DWHULE_E.vmdk) cannot be inflated type: <2>, capacity: <268435456000>, space used: <50275221504>.
The VMFS volume has 551GB of free space.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
daniel
Oh, just missed that you copied it. Use VMware Converter to convert Workstation VM to ESX VM.

Looks like you hit VMFS datastore file limit size - maximum VMDK size for VMFS with 1MB block is 256GB.

Ahh, thanks for that suggestion. I'll try to create another VMFS Vol with a larger Blocksize...
Hi Anton,
I checked the block size of this volume and it is 8MB. So it seems that this might not be the issue 😕
