by web, can't not connet to ESX3.5 for VIC installation

After installed ESX3.5, by web (http://10.1.1.201/), can't not connet to ESX3.5 for VIC installation.

this IP address can be pinged.

Did service mgmt-vmware status, got " vmware-hosted (pid 1380) is running..."

But, did http://10.1.1.201 got "Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed"

Why?

How can't I correct it?

Thanks!

George

Hi, vpxa is a process for Virtual Center Agent.

If you don't have a Virtual Center, you will not have the vpxa service, or files

Could be a firewall or Internet Explorer setting issue.

Try using the FQDN or adding http://10.1.1.201 and https://10.1.1.201 to your "Trust Sites" list.

Hi,

Probably you have a problem in etc/hosts file.

Check this KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100166...

Good luck!

thank for your response. I fowolled what you said here and some instructions following, but, the problem is still here.

Followed Restarting the Management agents on an ESX or ESXi Server (1003490).

Did service vmware-vpxa restart.

Got vmware-vpxa: unrecognized service

Followed Troubleshooting the VirtualCenter Agent Service when it will not start (1006128).

Did rpm -V VMware-vpxa

got pachage vmware-vpxa is not installed

Followed Troubleshooting the VirtualCenter Agent Service when it will not start (1006128).

Did cd /var/log/vmware/vpxa

Got –bash: cd: /var/log/vmware/vpxa: no such file or directory

Then I checked the directory, unable to find vpxa under vmware

Another problem is when the server boot, there was one error message on the monitor:

ipmi- was unable to find a system interace(s)

Hi,

In the ESX console, try the following:

If the problem persists, edit the hosts

file.

  1. From the ESX console type: vi /etc/hosts

  2. Press Enter.

  3. From the editor, press i .

  4. Modify the file to resemble the
    following sample:

    # Do
not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require
    network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1
    localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.0.100 hostname.domain.com
    hostname

  5. Press ESC.

  6. Type wq! Press Enter.

  7. Type service vmware-webAccess restart . Press Enter.

Reading your posts I saw you were looking for the vpxa*.log files.

I don't have a system that I can access at the moment, however these files should be found in folder /var/log/vmware/vpx (not vpxa)

Also please run a df -h to make sure it's not a full file system preventing the system to start correctly.

can't find folder vpx or vpxa under folder vmware.

in vmware, there were only some files not any directories.

Used df -h, the hard disk size was enought.

thanks
