Hi All,is there any possiblity that I can assign a different range static MAC address to Windows 2003 instances. As for now seem like only 00:50:56:00:00:00-00:50:56:3F:FF:FF that are allowed.

Welcome to the Forums - What version of ESX are you running? I beieve that was a limitation of versions prior to u3 - limiting the MAC address to only the range reserved for VMware - with u3 I think you now can use any MAC address -

I am pretty sure that even in the past when I P2V'd my license server on ESX 2.5 I was able to set the old physical intel card mac into the Operating system network configuration settings and it worked just fine.

Overriding the MAC within the O/S is a much better way of doing it vs doing it with the config file as only a change of the network cards inside the O/S will cause your mac to change, vs other things that can go wrong with a config
