I am building some big new production SQL servers and I have assigned 6 gig of RAM to them. Our host has 32 gigs so no problem there.
In the OS, it is only showing 3.6 gig of RAM on the machine.
Am I missing something?
you need to add /3GB to the boot.ini of the VM
How many CPU's did you assign?
Also is this a 32Gig OS? There are limitations in Windows on how much memory it can address / per socket, so that may be the culprit.
Win2003 Enterprise supports 32GB, Standard Edition is 4GB, AFAIK.
Try the /3GB switch. Presume these are fresh ESX3.x VMs, not ones migrated from ESX2.x?
I will try out the boot.ini fix..
I have assigned dual CPUs to each machine. And they are all 2k3 Enterprise.
I had to add the /3GB and the /PAE option as well to get it to work.
Thank you all!
Strange though, even though I assigned 6144Mbs, it still says just 5.75 gig in Windows.
