Cloning will change the Mac address it's it's SET to DHCP,

But IF you setup a static mac address for the machine, which you want to clone it should retain it's mac address.

You can use the below link to configure the satic mac address.

When two VMs have the same MAC (and both are connected to the same LAN / broadcast domain) the networking in these VMs doesn't work.

Well I would like to know what is the Agenda here..you want both machines to be powered on working..then I would say we can't have same MAC address on two VM which are powered on.

Here is the Vmware Link which helps in doing it,But there is only a Special pool of the mac address which you can ues to put a Static Mac address.

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=507

Below is the link to another tool which helps in managing the mac address

I hope it helps.

Thanks

FYI: cloning does not preserve static MAC addresses (I just tried it)

Thanks for information oreeh,I thought I would do,but still otherwise also we can have static Mac address assigned to new VM if someone wants to use the same mac address for the new machine.
