Hi everyone
Lets supose a virtual center 2.5 with some ESX 3.5, resource pools, somes clusters, folders with permissions to some users
I would like to know where is the information regarding folders, resource pools, permissions and other data stored. In the database, registry in VC, in .ini files?
The point is that we are going to migrate to a new Virtual Center but we want to preserve organizational information to avoid to retype all data again.
Thanks in advance
Hello Luis_F,
Folders, Resource Pools, etc. are stored in the virtual center database. Below is a link to a diagram of the virtual center 2.0.2 U2 schema. There are obviously changes in 2.5, but the diagram may help you out.

Don't forget to use the buttons on the side to award points if you found this useful (you'll get points too).

Hi, I'm the resource pool info is stored in the VC database and on the ESX hosts in the cluster. Not 100% sure if creating resource pools locally on an ESX host differs. If you look on your hosts you'll find references to resource pools by ID in the esx.conf and the pool ID to name in the /etc/vmware/hostd/pools.xml.
Thanks,
Neil
