Wake On Lan - DPM

Hello!

We have eight ESX 3.5 U4 (VC is 2.5 U4) that runs on HP Proliant BL 465c G1 with the latest firmware. I have enabled Wake on lan in bios but still it say that Wake on Lan is not supported on nic 0 and 1 (Broadcom NetXtreme ll BCM5706). Does anyone have some tip for me what to check and what I have missed? We need this to work before we enable DPM.

Thanks

if you use the command ethtool with each nic you said wake on lan is not enabled

what is the result? (over there you should get if your nic support WOL)

Hello again!

The output I got was

"Ethtool -s vmnic0 wol m

Cannot set wake-on-lan settings: Funktion not implemented

Not setting wol"

And I'll tried with u b and a with the same result.

Have you also update the NIC firmware?

Remember that DPM is not supported in production (with VI 3.5).

Note also that in vSphere you can wake up the host also via IPMI or ILOE.

There is also this post:

in this case it seems that other type of broadcom are not working and you type is working.

Is you ESX patched to 3.5U4?
