W2K3 Server image hangs at status bar startup screen

Hello,

I converted my physical Windows 2003 Server machine to a virtual image. When I start up the VM it hangs at the black "Windows 2003 Server" screen with the status bar. I have to reset the machine and then it brings me to my login screen. This always happens. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

George

How long did you wait? I had similar issues with W2K and W2K3 under ESX 3.0.2 in the past. Sometimes it took about 15(!) minutes to complete the boot process. This behavior was gone after installing some ESX patch.

I will suggest you patch your ESX host with the latest patches, and try it again.

Hello,

I'm updated with the latest patches. I've seen it hang up to an hour and then reset the machine.

How did you convert it? Hot or Cold? If you converted it hot can you convert it cold? Have you tried to re-p2v'n it?
