Vmware Foundation and MSCS

Does Microsoft Clustering Services work with Vmware foundation? If so, how well does it work and would you recommend and alternative to MSCS?

At the time we were looking at virtual clustering, 2003 SP1 wasn't supported and didn't work on ESX. The latest release of ESX 3.5 U1 is the only release that has supported MSCS on 2003 SP1+. We haven't tried to create any clusters after upgrading to U 1. Too many other projects.

Check out the release notes from VMware. About half the way doen. They do support Clustering. We tried to do it a long time ago, but gave up in ESX 2.5.2. We use physical clusters for now.

Is there a specific reason that you gave up on virtual server clustering?

Hi,

We need too virtualise 2 server that are running MSCS and we just wanted to make sure that it will work properly. We are running foundation and are not using virtual machine clustering.

Thanks,

Scott
