Vmware ESX 3.5 and MSCS

HI All,

I notice in the release notes for ESX 3.5 that it states thta VMware do not support MSCS in this release

http://www.vmware.com/support/vi3/doc/vi3_esx35_vc25_rel_notes.html (about halfway down)

Is there an official response as to why this is this is not supported? I have production systems running on 3.0 in this scenario and i am concerned an upgrade will cause issues

Any help would be apprecated

From 3.5 Update 1 MCSC is supported

Support for Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS)

VMware ESX Server 3.5 Update 1 supports Microsoft Cluster Service.

Support is similar to ESX Server 3.0.1 with the following additions:

- Both 64 bit and 32 bit Windows 2003 guests are supported with MSCS.

- Boot from SAN for VMs using MSCS is now supported.

-Majority Node Set clusters with application-level replication (for

example, Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) is now

I have been sent this by a colleague

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35u2/vi3_35_25_u2_mscs.pdf

I am confused now because point 12 on page 16 , suggests that VM images should not be clustered.

Can you confirm what this means and what caveats there are to clustering in this way?
