Virtual machines files locked when an Esx serveur freeze

Hi all,

We use ESX3.0.1 with Virtual Center 2.0.1. We have two serveur DL385G2 connect to a MSA1000 San.

The probleme is that this morning the first ESX hang but Virtual Machines hosted by the server still running fine. It was impossible to connect to the server console and the server appeared on state "Not Responding" in Virtual Center. We stop the virtual machines with a remote control software.

So we have register the virtual machines in the other ESX. No problem. We try to start it but impossible because files are locked (the swap file is in use)

The Vitual machines files hosted by the SAN still in use while the Virtual machine are correctly stopped .

We due completly stop the ESX and after start Virtuals machine on the other but and we have a down time of a very importante Virtual Machine.

Is there any other way to unlock file when we can't acces to the esx console (so impossible to kill the vm process) of the Virtual machine host ??

Maybe just power off or reset the "broken" ESX server? This should release any locks?

Yes the files are release et we can power Virtual Machine with the second ESX.

But I want to know if it's possible to unlock files just with the second ESX so keep the "broken" powered on
