Virtual PC on ESX 3.5 host W2k3 - CPU 100%

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement of installing windows virtual PC 2k5 on a windows 2003, which is a virtual machine in ESX 3.5.

The installation was successful and Once switched on, These VMs (virtual pc vms) utilize 100% CPU of host (w2k3 vm) server and this will continue to remain same even if i wait for hours.

I know that some of the setting we have to take care while doing a VM over VM.

Thanks,

Navaneeth

Why are you doing this? Why not create another virtual machine onits own?

Hello,

If you have an AMD Phenom within your ESX host, then this may be possible, but in general it is not. You can run other virtualization products within VMware Workstation but generally not ESX or Server.

Actually i don't want to screw my environment with another OS around. Its well managed with all Windows 2k3.

Also, the XP which I need to install will be managed by other team, I will end up giving access to my VC, which i really don't want.

I am not understanding what you are trying to do? You can still gain access to your VM's through the use of web access -

Hello,

Please clarify what you want to do.

VirtualPC is an actual virtualization product. If you actually mean VIrtual Machine, then yes that should work.
