Virtual Center 2.x Vlan ID display asterisk * ?

What is the significance of the asterisk next to the VLAN ID description in Virtual Center?

The asterisk only appears if there's a machine in that portgroup.

In the image you can see the my VLAN descriptions match the ID, howver the ID changes to * when a machine is the the portgroup.

Is there a concept I am missing?

I believe that if you run the command "esxcfg-vswitch -l", you will see that the VLAN ID will still be visible as being "assigned" to the portgroup.

############### Under no circumstances are you to award me any points. Thanks!!!

It's just a quirk of VC, if you click on that little blue dialog icon to the left of the port group info it will display the correct and more detailed information.
