Vcb on a turn-off machine. Is it possible?

I'm using Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 to create a virtual consolidated

backup of one virtual machine installed in a virtual center.

My question is: is it possible to launch the process of vcb with the

machine turn-off or is it necessary that the machine is running?

Thanks

You should be able to backup while virtual machine is power off since using BE 12.5 integrated with VCB 1.5, during configuration you added virtual center details and that's what it sees the sources. If VC/Hosts can see your virtual machines vmdk, you're good to go.

I really think there is no problem doing that. The only thing: if you are dong backups by ip address to identify the VM, I'm not so sure it will work (only by vm name). To check vcb version, enter at c:\program files\vmware\vmware consolidated backup framework\ and run vcbmounter.exe -v, it will show you in the first lines its version. This you must run inside the vcb proxy.
