VMware Tools automated installation modifications

Hello,

I've been searching for this answer but have not found it yet.

I know you can run an unattended or automated installation of VMware Tools with a default switch.  But I would like to know if the defaults can be modified.  For instance, I'd like to modify the default screen resolution from 800x600 to 1280x720 for both my Windows and Linux platfroms.

Can this be done by modifying a script and if so, which one?

Or can this be done from the command line?

Thanks in advance.

Hi  baileykenneths,

Welcome to communites.

Could you please specify which tool exactly you want to install ?

As I know If you select auto installation under tool tab then it will automatically install tools as well as updates.

emma234,

Thanks for responding.  Specifically, the VMware tools installer for Linux.  For instance, to install, ./vmware-install.pl will prompt you for various configuration options of which one is the screen resolution.  ./vmware-install.pl -d assumes you want to install with defaults, will not prompt you, and screen resolution is set to 800x600 automatically.

What I'd like to know is where is the default set?  Can that be changed to allow ./vmware-install.pl -d to install the default screen resolution to say 1200x720?

Thanks in advance...

Stuart
