After battling a problem last week where VMware tools is reported as not running in the VI client after a VCB backup, I found that the problem was documented at:
The problem seems to be popping up only on hosts with patch ESX350-200901401-SG installed. However, VMware only offers a workaround. I have had many queries about this and it's now becoming a big issue, especially as the problem did not exist prior to applying the patch. I'm still fortunate that I patched hosts in a test environment first, but even in a test environment I need VCB to function correctly.
Does anyone know if VMware is working on a patch to fix this problem? Workarounds are not good enough as clients doesn't want to hear about that. They want fixes and guys like myself find themselves in the middle of a battle between clients and VMware, having to explain why patches are breaking servers.
