VMware Guided Consolidation botton on VI client

Hi there!

I have little question about VMware Guided Consolidation - how to launch it from VI client. I installed this service during VC installation, service exist and it have started. For VI client 2 plugins present - Update manager and Converter, both of them were installed. What's next?

What can I do, or how to use it via VI GUI ?

Just click and that will start the guided cosolidation process -

1) Discovery - it will discover your existing physical server

2) Analysis - It will start recording metrics on which servers you select to be analyzed making recommendations on if it is approriate virtualization candidate

3) Convert - using convert it will convert the physical machine to a VM

This is really design for small to mid size businesses

May be I made wrong installation, or may be it's problem with misconfiguration somewhere? Or such problem happen only with me?

Hi Nemo,

are you using an english Windows Server Version? I wanted to test Guided Consolidation some month ago and this was not possible with a non-english OS.

Which Version of VC are you using?

Kind regards,

MZ1

I had this issue and had to do the following:

Open c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\vpxd.cfg in Wordpad.

Remove the following lines:

Save the changes and restart the vCenter services.
