VMs restart after vmware-mgmt service restart - bad patch?

Hello

I am aware of the problem in ESX v3 where VM's can restart after restarting the vmware-mgmt service if autostart is enabled.

Patch 7557441was released May 2007 to fix, but I have just been told by VMWare support that the patch does not actually resolve the issue.

Has anyone actually tested a restart of the mgmt service after applying the patch to see if the problem still exists?

I have restarted that service several times after the patch and have not had any issues.

Upgrade to 3.02. The issue should be resolved.

Are you sure this is an "issue"? It was my understanding that if you have VM's set to autostart, it is depending on the app to restart the VM, and not manually. It would make sense that the VM's would reboot if the mngmt services were restarted.
