VMotion and SVmotion between Bangalore and Chennai

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have a requirement. I want to have a ESX box and SAN in Bangalore and ESX and SAN In Chennai. If i have my Domain controller, and other LIVE servers, can the servers migrate from 1 location to another if the entire site is down due to power or any other problem. Any replication can be performed at a regular intervals of VMDK files?

Ex: if i have all my servers running in Chennai, in event of Power shut down or any other serious issues, Can all the servers switch to Bangalore using Vmotion and SVmotion i.e. from ESX to another and from 1 SAN to another? Also please give me some links or documents for the same.

They cannont vmotion if one side is down. VMotion requires both sides are active to initiate the process. Have you looked at all at SIte Recovery Manager? From the sounds of your post it sounds like a better fit for what you are describing.
