HI ,
as far as I knew Vmotion is not supported for VM which uses RDM, so I thought it wouldn't work .
However while "explaining" this to a customer we tried to vmotion a VM which has a RDM disk , and worked just fine .
Am I wrong in thinking that it shouldn't have worked ?
thanks
Yes Vmotion definitely works with RDM...
See this guide:

As MSCS clustering is not supported with RDM I thought it was a limitation of RDM .
Thanks
Vmotion defenitely works with RDM.
Vmotion does NOT work with MSCS, unless you're clustered VMs are installed on shared storage. Since the VMWare best practice for MSCS is to install on local storage, you cannot use Vmotion.
MSCS clustering is supported (best practice) with RDM. I believe you also must be using physical compatability mode.
