VMWare Converter - Schedule a P2V?

I have a goofy question. Can you schedule a P2V using VMWare Converter? I need to get a Phys to Virt done over the weekend but I need to start it in the late evening over the weekend and I really don't want to have to log in. Is this possible to schedule this?

Also, is it possible to config the machine I am doing the convert on as "Thin Provisioned" drives?

Any "Idiots Guide" on how to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi COS,

if you are using VMware vCenter Converter (the version shipped with vCenter) you can schedule your tasks. You can also reconfigure you target Virtual disk to match the size you prefer (decreasing or increasing volume) but the target disk on your VMFS will be in thick format.

You may find useful information in:

hope this help

I could be wrong but isn't vCenter for vSphere? My lab ESX is 3.5 U5 Clustered.

As written before you have to install the Converter Plugin on the vCenter Server and then also the plugin on your VIC.

When you enable this plugin on your client, you will see, under task, the options export and import.

In this way you can create some scheduled task.

Note that Converter will not overwrite the existing VM, so you have to delete the target VM (or rename it) before do the V2V.
