What do you mean it "put off" the volume? Is this a RAID volume? What is the status of the RAID in your controller?

Is the volume appearing under configuration-storage and is it showing formatted vmfs3? Have you tried a directory listing via the service console?

Hi Dennis,

the Volume in SAS Controller is a TWO DRIVES in MIRROR in GOOD State but VMWARE Server ESX view initially the Volume down.

In the same Raid Controller ( LSI/INTEL SAS SATA 8 Channel Drive ) i have:

1°) 2 DRIVES in Mirror ( 250 GB Sata Drive ) for System Files

2°) 4 DRIVES in RAID 5 ( 250 GB Sata Drive ) VMFS Volume

3°) 2 DRIVES in Mirror ( 1 TB Sata Drive Seagate ) VMFS Volume 8Mb blok size in GOOD State

4° ) 2 DRIVES in Mirror ( 1 TB Sata Drive Seagate ) VMFS Volume 8 Mb blok size ACTUALLY PROBLEM ( no partition is visualize )

Escuse for my bad english

Can you perform a rescan on your local storage adapter in the VI client, and provide a screenshot with results?

# fdisk -u /dev/sdd

Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI or OSF disklabel

Building a new DOS disklabel. Changes will remain in memory only,

until you decide to write them. After that, of course, the previous

content won't be recoverable.

The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 121454.

There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,

and could in certain setups cause problems with:

1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)

2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs

(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

Warning: invalid flag 0x0000 of partition table 4 will be corrected by w(rite)
