VMFS-3 (Read only) volume is not visible is DR site

Hi All,

We have SRDF replication setup in our virtualization environment. We have one datacenter having 10 ESX host in different site and same setup in other site.

10 SAN LUNs (FC) are mapped to all of the ESX, having same LUN ID in both side (live & DR).

We did migration for one pair of ESX host from 2.5 to 3.5 and upgraded the volume to VMFS-3.In live everything looks good and VM instances are running fine. But read only VMFS-3 in DR site is not visible in virtual center Datastore. Scanning is fine and it is coming under /vmfs/volume but with red colour on this (i think read only).

Note: - in ESX 2.5 we can see the read only VMFS-2 volume in DR site and virtual center.

Please let me know if need more clarifications

We had logged a case with VMware and got the reply stating that in ESX 3.5 read only VMFS volume does not mount in VC.

Once volume will be read & write this can be seen in VC autometically after a storage refresh.

Means no new answer from VMware.

that is correct, these are not mounted with 3.5 / 4.0. When they are read-only they will not show up unless you change them to read/write and rescan the HBA's.
