I am getting the following error when shutting down a VM;
“Error connecting: vmx connection handshake failed for mks of /vmfs/volumes/…” Do you want to try?
I am running ESX 3.5 in a test environment. VM is stored on a local LUN.
Try restarting the VC services: service mgmt-service restart

have a look in the vmware.lo file in the same directory as the vm. This will give you the cause it could be serveral reason from routing - OS type to having to restart the hostd service
