VM from clone spans multiple datastores

Hi all,

I have a VM spanning 2 datastores and I'm not sure how it got that way:

I cloned a VM from a template. The template resides on my VOL3 datastore.

In the Summary tab for my VM, it indicates that it is connected to VOL2 and VOL3 datastores. When I browse both the VOL2 and VOL3 datastores, I don't see any files related to the VM on VOL3, so I'm not sure why the VIC is reporting it as connected to VOL3? It has only 1 disk, and that connects to a single vmdk on VOL2

A couple of notes, when I cloned the template to the VM, I forgot that I had the CD connected to an .iso on the VOL3, maybe that is the issue? I've disconnected the virtualCD, but no change? It doesn't seem to be hurting anything at the moment, but I imagine down the road it could complicate things.

Thank you,

Chad

I think that the reason that you see your vm spanned across multiple datastores is the .iso file presented at the configuration of the virtual machine. Instead of disconnect the drive (that presents the .iso file) change the configuration of the cd to use a client device.

Hope this helps.
