I have run into this problem a few times in the past. I have found the document with the troubleshooting steps for killing a vm, then releasing the files. However, the last two time this has happened to me the uuid of the machine in question is showing in the vmkernel log as '00000000-00000000-0000-000000000000'. Short of rebooting the server, has anyone found a fix for this?
