Does anyone have any input as to the size of datacenter they are using and why? I've read people are using 7-9 ESX hosts per datacenter, but was curious if there were other recommended sizes?
A single instance of VC can manage around 150 hosts or 1500 VM's with VC 2.5, so actual datacenter objects within VC shouldn't come into it.
Think it would depend on how many VM's you have.
155 VMs
I run 75 VM's on 3 ESX servers with a total of 3 MSAs. No performance problems. But keep in mind each of my esx servers have 32 GB of ram a 2X quad core cpus. With 155 It would depend on memory of each system cpu access stuff like that. A good guide might be to use the HP size tool http://www27.compaq.com/SB/VMware/UI/index.aspx

True; however my concern is scsi errors/reservations. We allow all ESX hosts to see all LUNs.
ESX supports up to 256 LUN's. So you should be o with this as well
