VCP310 or VCP410?

A month ago I passed the course VI3.5 Infrastructure which is prerequisites to achieve VCP310 certificatation.

Now I am prepare for VCP310 exam, but as I can see the actually certification is VCP410?!

Do I need to prepare for VCP410 (go on another course, vSphere4), or I can just pass VCP310 exam?

Thanks

VCP 3 (VCP310) can upgrade to 4 (VCP410) without taking additional courses till end of the year. So you should take 310 exam and then upgrade it to 410.

You can not take 410 exam now, because you have no VCP 3 and didn't take any vSphere courses.

An alternative would be to take the vSphere4-What's new course because VI3-I&C course + vS4-WN course is also sufficient to take the VCP410 exam.

I agree with Anoton - I would recommend taking the VCP 310 and when your pass to sit for the VCP 410 - that way you can demonstrate your knowledge in both versions -

Thanks.

Let's resume please.

I must take VCP310 till the end of this year if I want to upgrade to VCP410 (also this year). If I don't do that, after this year I should pay vSphere course if I want to take VCP410, but I can take VCP310 exam anytime?

This page outlines the certification paths:

If you take and pass VCP310 exam then you can immediately try to take the VCP410 exam until Dec. 31. After Dec. 31 you will need to take the vSphere What's New course before taking the VCP410 exam. You will probably need to take the What's New course anyways to pass the VCP410 exam unless you just follow the VCP410 exam blueprint document and read a lot of the associated manuals to cover the material in the exam blueprint.

The "What's New" course is only a 2 day course so therefore is cheaper than the full prereq course.

Right...

The path to become VCP410 is here:

There is also a second shot promo (for VCP410 exam):

but I can take VCP310 exam anytime?

At least until the end of 2009.
