VCBMount cannot access SAN LUN's

I am starting to use VCB. My Proxy host is a Win2K3 R2 server. This proxy host can see all of the VMFS LUN's in my ESX environment. However, when attempting to do a VCBMount I am getting the following errors:

App 4292 warning Could not scan for partitions on device. No VMFS names will be associated with this device.

App 4292 Error: No path to device LVID 36474xxxxxx found. Blocklist 4292 Error.

vcbMounter 4292 Error: Failed to open the disk: Cannot access a SAN/iSCSI LUN backing this virtual disk.

How can I ensure everything is visible? The proxy host is setup in the same zone group on the SAN as the ESX hosts. I've rebooted the Proxyhost and re-scanned, etc...

Thanks

John

The screens weren't attached. When you installed 1.5, did you get the screen to OK the driver? If not, check the security policy and reinstall...Also, instead of upgrading, you are probably better off uninstalling and reinstalling.

If you don't get this confirmation screen, hyour driver did not install.

The GPO object is set to "silently succeed", so I assuming it does get installed.

I am assuming that the SAN is set up correctly, even though I didn't see the screens. Just for giggles, uninstall VCB. Reboot. Set the GPO to "warn" and then install VCB...

I've assumed too many times that the SAN is setup correctly. I am going to attempt yet again to attach a screenshot, even though it keeps erroring out. I didn't realize it would create all of those posts above.. GRRR Smiley Happy

The attachment may be too big. This one won't open. Try copying into paint and saving as a jpeg.

Well, everything looks OK in this view...If the GPO change / reinstall doesn't work, double check the host settings in Navisphere to make sure soemthing isn't set for write protect or read only. Also, check you HBA settings on the winders box. If you are using Emulex, sometimes they seem to negotiate to arbitrated loop. Force it to fabric- point - to - point..

I removed EMC PowerPath from the VCB Proxy, rebooted, and now vcbMounter can see the LUN's. I can successfully do a vcbMount.exe and copy a full VM over the SAN. Now I have to figure out why Powerpath does not work with VCB.

Thank you

That doesn't make much sense...VCB 1.1 and 1.5 supposedly support multipathing. Did you try to reinstall powerpath?

VMWare came back and said that PowerPath 5.2 is not currenslty supported with even the newest version of VCB which came out last week. I installed PowerPath 5.0.1 and VCB works great.
