VCB - slow file level backup

I'm trying to take a file level backup using VCB. Its running very slow, slower than a LAN backup. I'm using symantec veritas to backup files.

FullVM backup works great, it just happens in flash.

Have anyone gone across this.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Rajeev,

What is your ESX/VC version?

What is the volume size of your backup area?

Do you have many small files on it?

Did you try manually copying your files from DIGITS or LETTERS folders? (without veritas agent I mean)

Did you monitor your ESX hosts' /var/log/vmkernel while backing up?

Your systems may experiencing "SCSI Reservation Conflict"

Good luck.

HI,

I'm using ESX3.5 U1 and VC2.5 U1. VCB1.5

The volume i mount is around 800GB which has 2RDM's as a single dynamic volume. The size what i'm trying to backup for test is 50GB. There are lot of small files in it, its the user data.

Manual copy is also slow. In the vmkernel logs i'm not seeing any errors or any messages during the mount & backup.

How do i confirm my system is not hit by "scsi reservation conflict"

Anyone any ideas???

Appreciate your help.
