What's going to happen if someone were to accidentally pick Server 2003, Enterprise Edition (64-bit) in the VM setup and have it use the VMXNET adapter when you actually only have Standard Edition installed on the VM?
Joke aside, I don't see any reason for the Vmxnet driver not to work on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. But if "vmxnet" is not in the list of adapters provided when creating the VM for a particular type of GOS, be warned that VMware won't provide support for it if you run into problems.
"be warned that VMware won't provide support for it if you run into problems."
uh, no doubt. i almost even mentioned that, but figured it was obvious.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
