Apologies if this has been covered before.
With a 2003 VM running on ESX 3.0.2, is there any issue with starting that VM up on an ESX 3.5 server (in a different farm, and not VMotion just manually using the VM files). Also any issues going back the other way? I'm only thinking issues with ESX and the VM, not networking or anything else.
Thanks!
You'll be able to move the VM between 3.0.x and 3.5 with no issues. You can even Vmotion between the 2 versions. It's not a bad idea to upgrade the VMware Tools version after moving the VM. That won't cause a problem when you bring the VM back to ESX 3.0.x. VMware Converter is a good tool to use for moving the files if you haven't already tried it.
