Upgrade from ESX 3.0 to 3.5

Hi all,

I have a question for upgrade from ESX 3.0 to 3.5.

I have to setup new VC 2.5 and migration upgrade of ESX 3.0 to new vc on 3.5. I want to know if i need to unmap all the LUNs which are presented to the ESX before upgrading/Fresh installing the ESX 3.5... 

1. Does upgrading/Fresh installing makes any impact to existng datastores???

2. also since it is same VMFS 3 on both version is there any issue in just removing the VMs from old VC and register to new VC???

also if any best practice/steps available for upgrade from 3.0 to 3.5???
