Update esx Hosts without VCenter Server

I have several hosts running esx 3.5.0 U2 with VMware Foundation license. I do not have any Virtual Center Server.

How can I update my esx hosts in a more automatic task?

Is it possible to use VMware Update Manager without a Virtual Center? (I think not)

Are there other programs to install the patches "half" automatic.

I know the tasks to copy every task to the esx host and run esxupdate -n update for each patch.

Thanks for any reply.

Hi,

This is possible using the VMware Infrastructure Update.

This is installed when you install the VI client in the machine.

Open this application and check the option to check updates and in the hosts area , it displays the hosts available to update.

This should help you.

Hey,

You could place all the patches in an ftp / http repository

and then use the esx-autopatch.pl patching script, link here... http://www.vmprofessional.com/material/esx-autopatch.pl

Thanks for that reply. I found the Update Manager - installed with VI Client.

So far so good, but I'm not able to use this utility behind a proxy.

I know that there is a way to manually add files but is there any change to use this utility behind a proxy?
