Update Manager email notification

Does update manager send email notification if there are no new updates? I have email notification set but was wondering where the smtp server is configured?

smtp is configured in the VC management server configuration. In VIC, click on Administration, you will see it there. When the box opens there is a place for "mail". This is wher you put the SMTP mail settings.

Thanks. Found it. Now does an email go out each time update manger checks or only when updates are available?

I think it only notifies you when it downloads updates. the updates have to be installed manually once they are downloaded.
