Hi
My virtual infra has 3 ESX 3.02 servers, and 1 ESX 3.5
I have successfully tested the Update manager on the 3.5 platform.
But on ESX 3.02, I cannot manage to dfo the same. Am I missing something or is it just because Update manager is not working on ESX 3.02 ?
And in that case, what are the steps ( best practice ) to get my ESX 3.02 updated ?
Thanks for your help.
Dan
The update worked very well and was easy for our environment, 4 ESX attached to an EMC SAN with VMotion enabled. Maybe it is more complicated if you come from an ESX 2.x environment as you have to deal with the VMFS volumes and the guest hardware upgrade.
Read this document, it explains all necessary steps: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35/vi3_35_25_upgrade_guide.pdf
Read this thread, it is one I know of and there are some additional hints: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1000497

Yep, it is not working on 3.0.2. That's all.

Update it to 3.5 using the documented procedures. Or is there any specific reason why you stick with 3.0.2?
Actually, my 3.02 servers works great, and I'm just afraid to upgrade to 3.5..
do you know if this upgrade is at risk, or rather easy and sure procedure ?
Any link or document that may help me ( and other on this forum ) to upgrade from 3.0x to 3.5 ??
Thanks again.
