Update ESX

Hi all,

my question is the next, with VMware Update Manager can I update the release of my ESX?

In other words, with Update Manager can I update my ESX from 3.5 Update 2 to 3.5 Update 3 or Update Manager is only for patchs?

Thanks in advance.

yes, the U releases are usually "critical" so set you baseline as such, attach it to your Host(s)/Cluster and you will get the U releases.

Hi

Don't forget to update your VC server first to update 3 or 4. VC on update 2 (or earlier) won't talk to ESX once it has been updated to update 3

Hi,

VMware update manager can be used for applying Updates , Patches and also patching of your Virtual machines. You can define baselines based on criterias like critical , security , general. Both patches and updates provide some essential fixes which can be critial or in case of updates provides some new minor features as well.

Thanks,

Samir
