Can anyone tell me/point me in the direction of the process to apply ESX 3.5 U4?
I believe with this update you need to update Virtual Centre etc.
You know, I can't truly remember -I think it's a unified installer with the normal select components kind of dialog.

Basically the process I followed (and I guess I have a fairly standard environment):
Update VC server & Update Manager
Use Update Manager to remediate against a newly (manually) the critical and non critical baselines.
Did you just run the installer an select Virtual Centre to upgrade Virtual Centre and the database - Then run again and choose update manager?

You can also download the ESX 3.5 Update-4 ISO , create new CD from ISO and boot from Update-4 CD and choose the UPGRADE OPTION (NOT new install)
