Unable to remove a Datastore

I am running into an issue adding a new SAN LUN to my deployment. Each host has rights and can see it but when I add it to the host it will show up correctly for one host and show 350 gb available space but when I go to add it to the next host it needs to reformat the drive and then IT will show the correct space but the first host will show 0.

I have two other datastores setup exactly like this that worked fine and I am just trying to add additional capacity on.

Now, trying to clean up these bad datastores (that show 0 gb) I get an error about being unable to delete the datastore:

"error during the configuration of the host. Destroy/vmfs datastore can't delete the partition 1 on lun vmhba3:0:0

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hello,

I also had similar problems and ended up having to reinitialize the LUN. There may be an older partition on there somewhere.

Best regards,

Edward

Go into the MAPs section, find the datastore and delete from there.

I had that problem as well..

I also notice I'm right over the bridge from ya. I'm in Gov't center right next to 2 Center Plaza..

I will give that a shot reinitializing. It really should handle this more reliably.

We are out in the industrial complex by Alewife. Cambridge isn't a bad place to work and it beats some of the other locations my company has offices.

You also need to remove the map to the LUN, otherwise the LUN will come right back.

So I need to go into Navisphere - pull the access from that group - go into VMWare - rescan - go back into navisphere re add access and then rescan again and add?

Oof, not making it easy.

This worked out. Thanks guys!

From my testing it looks like my issue was not synchronizing all the esx host adapters (searching for new luns) before adding it to one VM.
