Unable to create Raw Device Mappings

Runing ESX 3.5 build 176894,

Trying to add RDM to VM but keep getting the following error

A general system error occurred: Internal Error

Failed to create virtual disk /vmfs/volumes/4a08378c-be93d9a6-c206-001d0933c069/XPVM-MGMT-MS/XPVM-MGMT-MS_1.vmdk

LUN is seen by the 2 hosts in the Culster.

VM's are located on VMFS Datastores not NFS

Is the LUN you are pointing at also in use by another virtual machine?

this is a new LUN

It doesnt matter with new or existing, still get the same error

did you select an existing datsatore as a pointer LUN?.

even though the RDM LUN stores data in it, the initial reference should happen via existing vmfs LUN, which is attached to esx.
