Unable to connect to the Virtual Machines in VI client 2.0

Hi

We are having issues with respect to accessing the host from the VMware Infrastructure Client. We are using VI Client 2.5 and when ever we select a Virtual Machine it gives an error " Cannot connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

I have tried stopping the and starting the firewall. Opened port 902 -904. Able to telnet using port 903 but unable to do so using 902. Unable to resolve hostname from the console of the VMware ESX. Can anyone help. As it a matter of urgency, help would be really appreciated.

Regards,

Ajoy

Are you using vCenter? Make sure DNS is working (both forward and reverse lookups!)

It is just VI client and not the Vmware Centre. Dns is working fine. Both Forward and reverse DNS works. It was working fine. I installed EsXpress software and then once I started the GUI Helper, it started to give problems. If you need any information just feel free to ask.

Hello,

For the VIC to work you must be able to connect to vCenter AS WELL AS the ESX host. So be sure you can ping both from the workstation. If you can then it may be your firewall if you have one between the workstation and the SC.

We can ping the ESX server from the machine which has the VIC. The connection is simple. Both the machine on which the VIC is installed and the ESX are comunicating through a switch. There is no Antivirus or firewall on the machine, on which the VIC is. Since I am unable to resolve the hostname through the ESX itself. Is there a way I can do that.
